The Ibero-American Council of Country Brands
We are the technical body responsible for promoting economic, commercial, and investment relations between Ibero-American countries through the interchange of experiences and lessons learned during the design, construction, management, and sustainability analysis of Country and Destination Brands.
What’s our purpose?
Through the exchange of experiences in the design, construction, management, and sustainability of regional Country Brands, we aim to become the lead technical body to boost economic, commercial, and investment relations between Ibero-American Council of Country Brands.
Ibero-American has much to offer the world. The forum explores how current trends in place branding, place making, and place marketing can improve each nation’s brand effectiveness. Current Brand offices operate in the following countries:

TIbero-American Council of Country Brands Forum promotes regional advancement. It is held once per year in the country which holds the Presidency.
2013I Latin American Country Brands Forum (Uruguay)The forum addressed the experiences of creating and managing the following Country Brands: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Spain, Mexico, Uruguay, and Central America.

2020VIII Ibero-American Council of Country Brands Forum (Costa Rica)The Council adapted to the changing context of the pandemic through a mix of strategic actions, including shifting to virtual meeting and communication platforms and incorporating four new members. The latter served to broaden the scope of involvement in the “Ibero-American Council of Country Brands,” and develop academic presentations to provide different perspectives on topics related to country and city brands.

Daniel Valverde - President
Country Brand Director
Daniel Valverde is a publicist and market specialist with master's degrees in Digital Marketing and Business Administration from the IE University of Madrid, and currently pursuing his PhD in Communications from Pompeu Fabra University of Barcelona. Formerly the Secretariat of the Latin American Council of Country Brands, he now holds the title of President. He has 20-years’ experience in the creative application of commercial management and the development of local brands for international audiences. He also chairs the Technical Unit of Costa Rica’s Country Brand. Recent accomplishments include conducting research in Place Branding with Pompeu Fabra University of Barcelona.
Darío Jhangimal - Secretary
Advisor to the Minister of Tourism of the Government of Panama
In addition to being an industrial engineer and entrepreneur, Secretary Jhangimal is passionate about the creation, popularization, and strategic marketing of brands into niche markets. He also undertakes personal projects to promote the appreciation of local culture and community empowerment, particularly involving the training of young leaders through the exchange of experiences. He has dedicated several years to the study of martial arts and competes nationally and internationally in his preferred practice, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He applies the philosophy and discipline he has gained from martial arts to solving life’s complex problems in a systematic and coherent way.
